4. Theme description: In a digital age, the magazine media industry is undergoing the most
fundamental transformation and challenges. Through the conference, we would like to discuss how magazine publishers embrace new business models and adopt new rules for leadership.

The Brief Introduction of IMCT 2011-1999

The 2011 5th International Magazine Conference of Taipei
The 5th International Magazine Conference of Taipei took place from April 28 to 29 in 2011, gathering industry experts to discuss emerging trends and the latest business models for magazines. The focus of the conference was digital content, devices& platforms, new advertising applications, new business models, and creativity & integration to create popular reading models.
The 2007 4th International Magazine Conference of Taipei
The 4th International Magazine Conference of Taipeiwas held on November 20-22, 2007. The theme of the Conference was “Decomposition & Recomposition: Asian Opportunity in the Digital Revolution. ” The three-days’ International Magazine Conference of Taipei focused on the four subjects- innovation management, digital development, greater China market and Asian forum to perform activities as deep researches, Asian issues discussing, and hyper digital exhibitions, in order to provide cross-border interactive learning, new cooperative opportunities and dominant strategies for meeting the challenges of digital revolution.
The 2004 3rd International Magazine Conference of Taipei
The 3rd International Magazine Conference of Taipei was held from November 15 to 17, 2004 in Taipei. The theme of this conference was: A bigger world / Asian magazine faces an expanding market and challenges. Conference 2004 focused on how Asian magazines face a new era of regional/international magazine. The borderline of countries has been vague in the 21th century, the marketing of magazines has been accordingly broadened to make the best of the advantages of marketing in Asia.  
The 2001 2nd International Magazine Conference of Taipei
The 2nd International Magazine Conference of Taipei was held from 12-14 November 2001. The theme of the conference was: Winning in Publishing.
The 1999 1st International Magazine Conference of Taipei
The 1st International Magazine Conference of Taipei
was held from 12-14 April 2001. The theme of the conference was: Vision 2000─Transition and Opportunities for Magazine Publishing, Taipei 1999.


About MAGAZINE BUSINESS ASSOCIATION OF TAIPEI (MBAT)
Knowledge, Vision, Responsibility | Generate the collective prosperity for magazine industry
Established on 18, December 1996, Magazine Business Association of Taipei (MBAT) is the only association in the magazine industry in Taiwan. The objectives of MBAT are to: promote the development of magazine industry, coordinate inter-relationship of the members, improve business operation environment, and enhance common benefits of the members. In addition, knowledge, vision, and responsibility are the three essential elements of MBAT in achieving the goals.

Ever since the date of foundation, MBAT has been constantly devoting to promoting the operation of entire magazine industry with the aim to enhance cooperation of generalized content industry and establish the contemporary cultural tendency, in order to actively support the innovation of operation environment in magazine industry.

More than 200 members are currently enrolled, who issue more than 500 kinds of magazines. The total numbers of domestic published magazines are up to 7,487 till the end of 2010, and around 600 are those whose sell channels are bookstores or other public locations where readers could purchase or subscribe freely. About 80 percent of the elite magazines in Taiwan are members of MBAT, which beyond doubt proves the dominant role played by the MBAT as well as its industrial energy manifested.

As the only magazine business association in Taiwan, MBAT acts as an important window in assisting policy making and interrogation, as well as a main guard to maintain the order of industries. MBAT is positive to communicate with government departments periodically and to strive for a vantage point in the government Organizational Structure for the magazine industry. Every year, MBAT makes efforts to gains the budget from government for industry, assists the industry to develop prosperously and focuses on the issue of business operation and legal issues for the related industry chain. MBAT performs coordinate work in accordance with the mutual benefits of the parties involved and act as an industry platform role.

By integrating the entire resources and means of magazine industry, the Magazine Business Association of Taipei created an ever remarkable prosperity. MBAT was evaluated as “2009 & 2011 Excellence Institute” by Taipei City Government, and was awarded with “Best Quality Charitable Institute Website” by Executive Yuan. With collective participation and persistent devotion of all the members, could the Magazine Business Association of Taipei be more effective in improving the operation environment and development of magazine industry.
