王榮文,台灣嘉義人。1971年畢業於政治大學教育系,1996年畢業於政治大學企研所企家班。現任遠流出版公司及智慧藏學習科技公司董事長,並參與非營利組織,擔任:人權教育基金會董事長、中央通訊社監事、中華圖書出版事業發展基金會董事,及受聘政府組織為:教育部學產基金管理委員、台北市政府文化局諮詢委員。

於政治大學教育系就讀時,王榮文即決定將來要成為「出版人」。在經歷短暫編輯工作後,旋於1975年創辦「遠流出版社」,秉著創社時的理想與勇氣,26年來,完成約4000種書的出版,試圖在整個社會扮演「沒有圍牆的學校」的角色。遠流出版公司曾被日本評為台灣最具影響力的出版社之一,王榮文個人也在1987年榮膺台灣最大連鎖書店-金石堂書店「出版界年度風雲人物」。迎接電子出版的世紀,王榮文不忘其年輕時創業的熱忱,於2000年成立「智慧藏學習科技公司」,一方面進行中港台E-content的出版資源合作,一方面積極進行工具書(字典、百科全書)平台、知識庫平台的功能開發,企圖為傳統出版找尋一片新天地。2001年,王榮文與創刊逾156年的Scientific American簽下合同,即將出版中文版,宣示遠流集團正式進入雜誌媒體市場的經營領域。

Jung-Wen Wang, born in Chia-I, Taiwan, in 1940. Graduated from the Department of Education of National Cheng-chi University in 1971 and graduated from the business graduate program of the same university in 1996. Chairman of the Board of Yuan-Liou Publishing Co., Ltd., Wordpedia.com Co., Ltd. and the non-profit Human Rights Education Foundation. Board director of Central News Agency and Chinese Publisher's Development Foundation. Member of the Management Committee of the Financial-Aid Fund for the Ministry of Education. Consultant for the Cultural Affairs Bureau of City of Taipei.

Mr. Wang made up his mind to become a publisher when he was just a college student. After a short career as an editor, he founded Yuan-Liou Publishing Co., Ltd. in 1975. With his courage and idealistic vision, he published more than 4,000 titles in 26 years, virtually creating a "school without walls". Japan has named Yuan=Liou Publishing Co., Ltd. as one of the most influential publishing houses in Taiwan. Mr. Wang himself was named the Embracing the century of e-publishing, Mr. wang started Wordpedia.com Co., Ltd. in the year 2000. Wordpedia.com aspires to unite all publishers in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Mainland China in an effort to establish the biggest Chinese E-content, and to develop electronic platforms for dictionaries, encyclopedias and knowledge databases. Its ultimate objective is to pioneer new directions for traditional publishing companies. In 2001 Mr. Wang signed a contract with the 156-year-old Scientific American for the rights to publish its Chinese edition. The magazine will be soon on the local market, and it marks Yuan-Liou Publishing Group's entrance as a key player in Taiwan's magazine industry.
